ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has named Eunice Tarver as Vice President of Student Success and Equity. With the pandemic and an effort to trim costs, this position went unfilled with President Leigh Goodson, Ph.D. stepping in to serve in that role for seven months.
The announcement is a promotion for Tarver who most recently served as ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Northeast Campus Provost and Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ also changed the position’s title, formerly the Vice President of Student Affairs and Equity, to reflect the scope of work to improve student success outcomes from every sector of the College.
“Moving forward, I have every confidence that Tarver will carry on the good work already established in Student Affairs, while also reimagining the way we serve our students,â€ said ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ President Dr. Leigh Godson. “She has an excellent reputation as a leader, both at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and in the community, and in this role, those relationships will serve her well.â€
Tarver will oversee an expanded collaboration between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs with Dr. Angela Sivadon, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Senior VP and Chief Academic Officer. This will be intentional work to design a student experience that is both responsive to the shifts from the coronavirus pandemic and at the same time supportive for an inclusive and equitable learning experience.
“With over a decade of experience in roles across ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Tarver has provided a strong vision and dedication to our students,â€ said Goodson.
Joining the College in 2010, Tarver served an Academic Counselor and two years later was promoted to Director of Student Development for the Metro Campus. She was also an adjunct faculty member in the Developmental Psychology and Human Relations department. In 2015, Tarver was named Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and promoted to Provost in 2017. Prior to joining ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Tarver served as Site Director of the YWCA’s north Tulsa location.
Tarver earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State University and completed her master’s degree in Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma.
